Only one of the three American wrestlers who participated in the competition late Wednesday survived an uneven day playing for the American team at the Tokyo Olympics and won the gold medal.

Gable Steveson performed well in the 125kg category, scoring 18 points between Aiaal Lazarev who defeated Kyrgyzstan in the 16th round and Taha Akgul who defeated Turkey in the quarter-finals.

Steveson will face Mongolia's Lkhagvagerel Munkthur in the semifinals.

Kyle Dake defeated Iran’s Mostafa Hosseinkhani 4-0 to win his first match in the 74 kg class, but the 2020 European champion Belarus’s horse Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov (Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov) faced a tougher challenge. He defeated the American player 11-0.

The American team’s Jacquard Winchester defeated Olga Korosavtseva of the Russian Olympic Committee 7-4 in the women’s 53 kg class of 16 rounds, but the quarter-finals were impressive. The shocking start made her come under fire.
