Ryobi HP Brushless Oscillating Multi-Tool has taken a big step forward in terms of performance and design while retaining the same basic appearance as the previous model. Of course, there is still some room for growth, but we are very satisfied with the improvement of this model.

Ryobi's high-performance (HP) 18V tool series improves performance and surpasses the high-end DIY/entry-level Pro product line. So far, we have looked at many of the tools in the series and have left a deep impression on us overall. With the Ryobi HP brushless oscillating multi-tool, the brand told us to expect better performance and other improvements than their previous 18V multi-tool.

The Ryobi HP brushless swing multi-function tool uses a brushless motor. The company said that compared with the last iteration of the 18V multi-function tool, the P343, the motor can increase the cutting speed of the tool by up to 30%.

Considering the OPM ratio of these two tools is 10,000 – 20,000, you might expect them to have similar performance. It is the angle of oscillation that makes the difference. The old version only had a 3° swing stroke, while HP Brushless changed to 3.6°. This is the same angle used by many popular Pro models.

Several test cuts were made and the difference was obvious. Digging deeper, we cut it through the door frame undercut, drywall cutout, pop-up nails to hold the decoration in place, remove grout and sand.

In the course of these applications, Ryobi proved that it has significantly improved its performance. The best premium models still cut faster, but the cutting speeds we've seen make Ryobi more relevant than ever.

The vibration control is roughly the same as we felt in the previous model. It is not as smooth as Milwaukee and Fein, but it also does not make our nails vibrate like some other models.

Ryobi sticks to the upward-slanted handle that we saw on the previous model, which is a double-edged sword. They improve overall comfort, and when you cut with the tool in the upright position, it fits your hand perfectly.

However, when you need to hold it at a different angle, the situation changes. We found that it is usually more comfortable to find a completely different grip.

Ryobi HP brushless swing multi-tool, like P343B, also has a variable speed dial to set your speed. Thanks to an on/off switch instead of a trigger with a lock button, there is no longer a "0" setting. We appreciate this change from trigger to switch.

Another major improvement involves the replacement of parts. The old model requires the use of a hexagonal wrench to replace the blade and accessories. Ryobi HP brushless swing multi-tool is no longer an old system, but has the function of tool-free blade replacement. Simply pull up the release device, slide the metal stop lever over, and then turn it over.

However, the design has some quirks. If the stop lever is pushed out a few more millimeters, you can replace the accessory with the rear cutout without turning it over.

Because this action requires you to slide and rotate, this may be a small trick when you change to or from the sand pad that is recessed in it. The Ridgid design just rotates from the center, where it is easier.

The Ryobi HP oscillating multi-tool also has a brighter LED light that allows you to keep the project lit while you are working. This is not a significant improvement compared to the previous multi-function tool, but we are happy that it still exists.

You can purchase Ryobi HP Oscillating Multi-Tool exclusively from Home Depot. It is provided as a bare tool for $99. Although you must purchase the battery and charger separately, you do get some accessories. It is equipped with a cutting blade, a flat cutting blade, sandpaper and 3 sheets of sandpaper. It also provides a 3-year warranty.

Ryobi HP Brushless Oscillating Multi-Tool has taken a big step forward in terms of performance and design while retaining the same basic appearance as the previous model. Of course, there is still some room for growth, but we are very satisfied with the improvement of this model.

Can you tell me how it compares with the old P340 (P340 with interchangeable heads)? I have it, but I am not moved, but I do not have a good frame of reference.

I am a supporter of Ryobi brushless tool series. I am a professional and I don't use them much every day, but for my bathroom renovation, we use them every day, they can support, deliver and the battery is affordable. Although I am sure that other big names can beat them, they are also more expensive, and it is certainly preferable to lose their "opportunities". Just like the Craftsman tool of the year-almost as good as snap on or Mac, and fully capable of light to moderate professional use. They can complete the work at a reasonable cost every time.
