Niagara, Wis. — Frances “Fran” M. Alsteen Everson, 87, of Niagara, Wis., passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara. Her passing was pronounced on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Fran was born June 3, 1935, in Marquette, daughter of the late William and Cleo (Meade) Gagnon. She grew up in Baraga and was a graduate of Baraga High School. Following her graduation, she received her LPN certification. Fran married Donald Alsteen on July 6, 2002, in Niagara.

Fran was truly a gifted artist. She enjoyed painting with acrylics, and she could paint just about anything: scenery, vegetation, human and animal form; and she painted on any medium, including windows, saw blades large and small, garage doors, t-shirts, canvas, and much more.

Fran loved to dress up, and she wore costumes for special occasions at Maryhill. For Halloween, she started a neighborhood haunted house in the family home, which became so popular and grew so much every year that it was moved to the Legion Hall. Fran also enjoyed cooking, baking, and time spent with family and friends. Fran and Don enjoyed winters in Texas and summers in Niagara and on the lake in Iron River.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Alsteen; three sons, Dr. Ralph (Cathy) Everson of Belvedere, Ill., Christopher (Pamela) Everson of Ramsey, Minn., and Terry (Sally) Everson, Lakeville, Minn.; one stepson, Darren (Tracy) Alsteen of Kingsford,; one daughter, Sandra (Bill) Schoenke of Prior Lake, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Lou Anne (Larry Crittenden) Allard of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tamara (Ken) Kuder of Kingsford; 21 grandchildren, Jonathan Everson, Michael Everson, Sarah Everson, Samantha Everson, Derek Everson, Brian Schoenke, Christina Schoenke, Josh Schoenke, Andrew Schoenke, Cassie Everson, Alyssa Stromberg, Kendra Alsteen, Carlie Stromberg, Jenna Alsteen, Keiley Alsteen, Joe Kuder, Tyler Fabry, Travis Paquin, Cory Allard, Morgan Sparks, and Brianna Allard; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Francis (Lois) Kidd of Pembine, Wis.; and one sister-in-law, Mary Kidd.

In addition to her parents, Fran was preceded in death by three brothers, Carlton Johnson, Robert Kidd, and Richard Kidd; three sisters, Betty Carlson, Leone Davis, and Marge Belongie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home-Niagara Chapel in Niagara, Wis. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
