If you're jumping into Arcadegeddon, you'll want to know the best weapons to choose from.

In the third person techno romp that is Arcadegeddon, you're young, blue, and your name is Plug. Your uncle owns a local arcade where he creates games you can enter, TRON style. But the evil FunFun Co has somehow managed to get a virus into his latest game, and it is up to you and some friends you make along the way to get in there and fight back.

You have access to a whole arsenal of weapons and abilities to use in this noblest of quests. The shooting is fast-paced, tight, and fun, and getting the right gun paired with the right hacks is an absolute blast. With all the options Arcadegeddon has to offer, what loadout should you use? While most of the game's weapons are great to use, you should watch out for and work to level up these beauties.

Ah, the minigun! One of the grand-daddies of heavy weapons in video games. Low damage dealt at a very high rate of speed makes for an excellent way to give yourself some breathing room when swarmed by enemies. Arcadegeddon will occasionally send a kind of not-skeleton guys that will rush you in groups.

While shotguns are also helpful in this situation, the large magazine size of the minigun ensures you won't have to stop and reload in the heat of the moment. Keeping things close quarters is a must since your accuracy isn't the greatest. Luckily, that's easy to do since the minigun slows your usually swift movement down just a bit.

This might be a controversial entry, but the Slugger, a starting weapon and one of the only two melee weapons in the game, is absolutely worthy of this list. This humble baseball bat earns its keep in Arcadeggedon with a fast primary attack and powerful charged-up home run swing.

This can get you out of a jam when you run low on ammo, or even if you feel like mixing things up a bit. The secondary attack has the satisfying result of sending your target flying. If you are lucky, you can find a more powerful version of the starter bat while out and about on your adventures.

One of the several sniper rifles in the game, the Long Winter has fairly unimpressive damage. What sets it apart from other sniper rifles on this list is its ability to freeze enemies solid. It isn't the only weapon that can do that, but it is the only one that can do it at range.

This rifle really shines when going up against enemies that like to make liberal use of their jetpacks. Not to mention, taking out those pesky elites is much easier when you freeze them in mid-air and let the ground do the work for you.

Undoubtedly (probably) inspired by the 1996 film of the same name in which Arnold Schwarzenegger faces off against the late James Caan, this rifle has the unique ability to punch through enemies to hit the ones that line up behind them.

This fun sniper rifle shines in the halls between areas in the levels, where you will typically have the cleanest shots on enemies waiting on you to get closer. That's not all it's good for, though; you could do worse than bringing the Eraser into a boss fight.

Fans of Arcadegeddon regularly sing the praises of the Shocker V11.1 as one of the best ways to take out groups of enemies, especially when they end up in convenient clusters.

This grenade launcher releases a shocking burst that stuns enemies and travels through them to their buddies, not only doing damage but giving you time to react to anything else that may be happening. Like all weapons in the game, the more you use this launcher, the more it levels up, increasing its effectiveness.

Aperature 3 is just buzz saw joy, plain and simple. Slicing up enemies with a flying buzz saw blade is just as fun in Arcadegeddon and will give you serious "We don't go to Ravenholm" vibes. It isn't the most powerful weapon in your arsenal, but it is fun to see your saw blade ricocheting off walls, lopping enemies in two.

Because the Aperature 3 is commonly featured in free-for-alls, it's not a bad idea to practice with it if you spend a lot of time in the game's PVP mode.

The Cold Shoulder is a freeze effect rocket launcher that should not be overlooked. The weapon's low damage is offset by the incredible utility it offers. This shoulder-fired freeze machine can simultaneously put several enemies on ice and give you an opening for a slick baddie-shattering follow-up attack.

Alternatively, you can use that time to escape and make your way to a Pay2Live machine. When used correctly, the Cold Shoulder is an excellent tactical weapon, best used to put enemies on ice and buy some time.

Status effects are fun. The right status effect on a weapon can make it a shoo-in over standard weapons with higher damage stats but no extras. A weapon that causes burning damage on top of regular weapon damage is basically industry standard, and Arcadegeddon does not disappoint. The Thermal Devastator is a joy to fire into a group of enemies as you speed past to let them burn into experience points.

Like other weapons on this list, the Thermal Devastator is far from the only fire-enhanced gun available. It isn't even the one with the highest damage stat. But the decent damage it has, combined with the respectable range and the burning effect, makes this launcher a solid choice for any run.

If you move, you live. The Hunter assault rifle and the Tracker pistol are smart weapons you cannot go wrong with. After an enemy is tagged, every following shot homes in and strikes true. These weapons are particularly handy in certain boss fights, where taking cover is a must to survive the often devastating attacks launched at you.

The damage on these two is nothing to sniff at, with the range being the only limitation. While technically two separate weapons, they function exactly the same way, one with higher damage and more rounds, and the other is pocket-sized.

The undisputed king of Arcadeggedon. This pistol packs so much punch that you will find yourself one shot killing nearly every standard enemy in the game. It has a slower fire rate than other pistols in the game, but that isn't much of an issue considering the amount of damage you are dealing.

Even tougher enemies fall with just a couple of well-placed bullets. The biggest trick with the Outlaw is making each shot count. Arcadegeddon is a fast-paced shooter, so taking the time to line up each shot can be difficult. Luckily the ammo for the Outlaw is plentiful, so fire away!
